Heat conduction in 2D strongly-coupled dusty plasmas
نویسندگان
چکیده
We perform non-equilibrium simulations to study heat conduction in two-dimensional strongly coupled dusty plasmas. Temperature gradients are established by heating one part of the otherwise equilibrium system to a higher temperature. Heat conductivity is measured directly from the stationary temperature profile and heat flux. Particular attention is paid to the influence of damping effect on the heat conduction. It is found that the heat conductivity increases with the decrease of the damping rate, while its magnitude confirms previous experimental measurement. PACS numbers: 52.25.Fi, 52.27.Gr, 52.27.Lw

Microscopic dynamics in two-dimensional strongly-coupled dusty plasmas
A strongly-coupled plasma is a collection of free charged particles that interact with a Coulomb repulsion that is so strong that nearby particles do not easily move past one another. Unlike weakly-coupled plasmas, strongly-coupled plasmas exhibit a self-organization of particles into an arrangement like a solid crystalline lattice or a liquid. Dusty plasmas consist of micron-size particles of ...
متن کاملDust Acoustic Shock Waves in Coupled Dusty Plasmas with Kappa-Distributed Ions
We have considered an unmagnetized dusty plasma system consisting of ions obeying superthermal distribution and strongly coupled negatively charged dust. We have used reductive perturbation method and derived the Kordeweg-de Vries-Burgers (KdV-Burgers) equation. The behavior of the shock waves in the plasma has been investigated. Keywords—Shock, Soliton, Coupling, Superthermal ions.
متن کاملComplex shear viscosity of a liquid 2D dusty plasma
Strongly-coupled dusty plasmas often exhibit liquid behavior. Liquids behave as a viscous continuum in the hydrodynamic regime. However, in the kinetic regime of a liquid, viscous and elastic effects occur at the same time [1], i.e., the liquid is said to be viscoelastic. To characterize the viscoelasticity of a liquid, the complex viscosity, () = () i(), is often used, where the real a...

The paper reviews some properties of strongly coupled plasmas and outlines the basics of molecular dynamics simulation technique, which is frequently applied in computational studies of strongly coupled many-particle system. Simulation results are presented regarding the collective excitations and the shear viscosity of quasi-two-dimensional Yukawa liquids. Introduction Strongly coupled plasmas...
